About

My name is Nate Oswald and I am the owner of Select Captive Bred. I began keeping reptiles in the late 1980s and I began intentionally breeding in the early to mid 1990s. What started as a curiosity slowly evolved into an obsession and in conjunction; from a hobby into a small business.

I am passionate about the captive propagation of reptiles and amphibians and I do not partake in the sale or distribution of wild caught animals. Select Captive Bred seeks to produce the best and brightest captive bred specimens. I am not a large operation by any means, so availability is small and limited in quantity. The animals available are the result of successful pairings within my collection. Almost all of the animals offered for sale are captive bred here in Southeast Michigan. However, I am always expanding my interests and adding new blood lines. That is the fun of reptiles, you can’t just have one or ten or twenty….

All animals are guaranteed healthy and are accurately represented in pictures and description. Ask around and you will find out that many of my past customers can testify to the health of my animals and that I back the quality 110%. I do not breed to make a quick buck. The health and well-being of my animals are my prime concern. And yes, I will refuse a sale if I don’t think the buyer is committed to providing a safe, secure and adequate home for one of my babies.

I strive to remain reasonable and competitive in my pricing. This is not the sole income for me and probably won’t be in the foreseeable future. This is a method for me to share the success of keeping and breeding of these fascinating creatures and maybe to fund new projects and expand my interests.
